reader’s question
Dave,
My question hails from an area of view that no-one has probably ever raised with you before, based on what I’ve read in your e-mail newsletters. Besides getting help from the shrink, what advice is it possible to tell someone like me who’s had trouble meeting women due to social panic and inadequate a sense of humour? Personally i believe like my insufficient success with women throughout my life is not only due to nervous about rejection but can also be due to my insufficient social conditioning and sense of humour. I end up saying stuff that’s way too Cocky or out of line, or PERSONALLY, I i think like I’d like to start out a conversation with them but just don’t contain the nerve to begin talking.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt, here’s the crash course on how to start and continue a fascinating, humourous conversation with a female… it sure sounds like you need it ASAP.
What you should do is figure out how to keep any conversation going, keep it interesting and unpredictable. Basically, understand how to talk about anything and have it be fun.
Here’s a technique that I use personally. Once I approach a woman , I listen carefully for particular kinds of “keywords” she might say. Specifically, I’m on alert for words or phrases which can be twisted, turned around, misinterpreted, and misconstrued in a particular way. Namely, a way that makes her sound like she accidentally said something stupid, ditzy, sexually crazed, or suspicious.
It’s the perfect way to start using Cocky & Funny in a way that has just the right tone, because it’s based on mishearing her.
For instance, you might approach a woman by saying: “That’s an unusual-looking dress you’re wearing. Where’d you obtain it?” She might say something similar to: “I purchased this from the Old Navy store.”
Keywords: Old Navy.
In ways: “Oh, so you’re in the Navy, huh?” She’ll get yourself a little ruffled at that, and you will definitely have her attention. She might say something similar to: “No, silly. You understand, the big store at the Mall.”
Keyword: Mall.
So you say: “Oh, so you like likely to the mall and purchasing strange-looking dresses, can you? Do your girlfriends also get them?” Maybe she’ll say: “My girlfriends are neat dressers and my dress is quite popular, I’ll perhaps you have know!”
Search phrases: “girlfriends are neat dressers” and “dress is popular.”
So you say: “Well, if your girlfriends are neat dressers in a favorite dress like you’re wearing, then I am going in to the shower curtain clothing business.”
Now, let’s dial it up a bit. When she says: “No, I purchased this from the Old Navy store,” rather than just keying into “Navy” and saying: “Oh, so you’re in the Navy, huh,” you will want to take it to another step and make fun of her actually. “Oh, so is this what guys used to wear – in the past in the Old Navy?”
Now you’re busting on her behalf, and it’s funny.
